Rainbow Quest was an American-bred bay colt foaled in 1981 by Blushing Groom out of I Will Follow (Herbager). He was owned by Khalid Abdullah and trained at Beckhampton by Jeremy Tree.

Following a string of near misses in championship races at three, Rainbow Quest matured to his full ability as a four-year old winning the Coronation Cup and a career-defining victory in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

At Stud, his progeny enjoyed wide success including the Derby winner Quest For Fame and other Classic wins with Knight’s Baroness, Spectrum, Nedawi and Millenary. Amongst many others worthy of special mention are Saumarez (the Arc) and Colour Vision (Gold Cup at Ascot).
