Darshaan was a bay colt foaled in 1981 by Shirley Heights out of Delsy (Abdo). He was bred and raced by HH The Aga Khan and trained in France by Alain de Royer-Dupre.
The colt won 5 of his 8 races, most notably the Prix du Jockey-Club (French Derby) and was the highest rated 3-y-o in France in 1984.
At stud Darshaan was also Champion Sire in France in 2003. His exceptional progeny, too numerous to mention, would include Mark Of Esteem, Dalakhani, Kotashaan, Hellenic. Key Change, Mutamam and Necklace.
Worthy of mention is his influence as a damsire. His daughters’ progeny include High Chaparral, Marienbard, Enzeli, Islington, Edabiya, Alexander Goldrun, Darsi, AL Kazeem, Estimate and many other high-class performers.
