Singspiel was a bay colt foaled in 1992 by In The Wings out of Glorious Song (Halo). He was bred and raced by Sheikh Mohammed and trained in Newmarket by Michael Stoute.
The colt only finished outside the top two in 3 of his 20 races and recorded 9 wins. Singspiel was campaigned as a globetotter winning the Dubai World Cup, the Japan Cup and the Canadian International; as well as on home soil recording wins in the International at York, the Coronation Cup and other races.
At stud Singspiel sired many good horses including Moon Ballad who, like his father, won a Dubai World Cup, and Papineau who won the Gold Cup at Ascot. In more recent times Da Rei Mi has proved an important racehorse and stallion; and the French-trained grey gelding Solow was very high-class.
