Stilvi was a British-bred bay filly foaled in 1969 by Derring-Do out of Djerella (Guersant). She was owned by George Cambanis and trained by Bruce Hobbs close to the site of the Graham Budd auction venue and National Horseracing Museum at the Palace House Stables, Newmarket.
Stilvi was a high-quality sprinter who won the Duke of York Stakes and the King George Stakes at Royal Ascot.
However, the racing achievements were eclipsed by her importance as a broodmare. Stilvi was the dam of Tachypous (Middle Park), Tromos (Dewhurst), Tolmi (Coronation Stakes) and Tyrnavos (Irish Derby). As is evident from the farrier's specially shoe being offered here, in later life the mare suffered from laminitis.
