Johnny Carey green Republic of Ireland v Portugal and Spain International Cap, 1946, in green velvet with gold braid trim and tassel with the game details embroidered, again in gold braid, on two of the panels. The cap velvet is faded, but the lining is in good condition as is the braid.
The cap represents Carey's 9th and 10th International appearances for the Republic, in the match against Portugal played on 16th June 1946 in Lisbon, Portugal defeated Ireland 3-1 and and in the match against Spain played on 23rd June in Madrid, Republic of Ireland defeated Spain 1-0
