The winning jockey’s trophy presented to Pat Eddery for the victory on Wannabe Grand in the 1998 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket, In the form of a silver ashtray, hallmarked Theo Fennell, London, 1998, with horse and jockey model to centre, rim inscribed with race details, model in need of securing nut beneath, otherwise good Wannabe Grand was an Irish-bred bay filly (1996) by Danehill out of Wannabe (Shirley Heights). She was owned by Mr B McAllister and trained at the Shalfleet Stables in Newmarket by Jeremy Noseda. She won three other two-year-old Pattern races and was beaten 1/2L in the 1999 1,000 Guineas behind Wince. Pat Eddery won the Cheveley Park five times, his other successes coming on Pasty in 1975 (see lot 177), Woodstream in 1981, Prophecy in 1993 (see lot 218) and Gay Gallanta in 1994.
