London 2012 Olympic Stadium athletics track Lane 5 start line marking used for the 200m events, a section of the red vulcanized rubber dual layer athletics track installed by the Italian manufacturer Mondo, removed from its position at the Lane 5 start line for the 200m, bearing '200'' in white in the ''2012Headline'' typeface designed by Gareth Hague for the London 2012 Games, the first time that an Olympic running track was marked with anything other than generic Arabic numerals, the track section with the start line & outer lane marking in white, and additionally the curved white line for the 5,000m heats staggered start that extended across lanes 5 to 9 of the track, measurement approx. 70 by 50cm.; sold with a certificate of authenticity issued by the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) and the Mayor of Newham (2) By way of further explanation of the curved white line in the section of track being offered here, with the large number of competitors taking part in the heats of the 5,000m events, the athletes used a staggered start around the first bend. A group of athletes ran in lanes 1 to 4, while from an advanced position the remainder of athletes ran in lanes 5 to 9. In the men's 200m final Churandy Martina (Netherlands) ran from Lane 5, while in the women's final Jamaica's Veronica Campbell-Brown occupied this lane when finishing fourth. At the Paralympics seven gold medals were won from this Lane 5 200m Start Line, comprising: Women's 200m - T12: Assia El Hannouni (France), Men's 200m - T13: Jason Smyth (Republic of Ireland), Women's 200m - T35: Liu Ping (China), Women's 200m - T37: Johanna Benson (Namibia, country's first ever Olympic/Paralympic gold medal), Men's 200m - T38: Evan O'Hanlon (Australia), Men's 200m - T42: Richard Whitehead (Great Britain) & Men's 200m - T46: Yohansson Nascimento (Brazil).
