Tom Newman & Walter Lindrum, World Billiards Champions Tom Newman (1921, 1922, 1924, 1925, 1926 and 1927) and Walter Lindrum (1933 & 1934) pair of original vintage ink signatures, to a 6.25 by 5.25in. album page, sold with a printed full page match advertisement for a series of exhibition matches to be played between June 3rd and June 15th 1931 between Lindrum and Newman, featuring vignette images of both players and match details, ideal for display, both items in good condition Tom Newman (23rd March 1894 – 30th September 1943) was an English professional player of Billiards and Snooker. He established himself as the best billiards players of the 1920s, appearing in every World Professional Billiards Championship final between 1921 and 1930, and winning the title six times. In the last five of these finals, he met Joe Davis, winning twice (1926 & 1927) and losing three times (1928, 1929 & 1930). On the 5th of March 1931, he made his personal highest break of 1,827 in a match against Walter Lindrum at the Foresters' Hall, Dundee. Walter Albert Lindrum, OBE (29th August 1898 – 30th July 1960), often known as Wally Lindrum, was an Australian professional player of English billiards who held the World Professional Billiards Championship from 1933 until his retirement in 1950. He was one of the most successful players ever seen in billiards, with 57 world records to his credit, some of which still stand.
