The winning jockey’s trophy presented to Pat Eddery for the victory on Sharpo in the 1981 William Hill Sprint Championship [now the Nunthorpe] at York, In the form of a brass & glass housed carriage clock by J W Benson, the top with plaque inscribed with race details, height 11cm. Sharpo was a British-bred chestnut colt (1977) by Sharpen Up out of Moiety Bird (Falcon). He was owned by Monica Sheriffe and trained by Jeremy Tree at Beckhampton. The champion sprinter went on to be an important stallion. This was Pat Eddery's second win in the Nunthorpe having been successful on Sharpo the previous year, with Cadeaux Genereux in 1989 and on Sheikh Albadou in 1991.
