From the Pat Eddery Collection: a racing plate worn by the filly May Hill in 1975, set on a wooden ashtray with plaque inscribed: MAY HILL 1975, HAYDOCK YORK DONCASTER, 3rd PRIX VERMEILLE May Hill was a British-bred bay filly (1972) by Hill Clown out of Mabel (French Beige) and trained by Peter Walwyn at Lambourn. Her wins in 1975 included the Yorkshire Oaks and the Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster. Doncaster racecourse have commemorated the filly with the May Hill Stakes, restricted to two-year-old fillies and first ran in 1976. It gained Group 2 status in 2003.
