Ex-Pelé Collection: the torch used by Pelé to light the flame at the Opening Ceremony of the 74th Jogos Abertos do Interior (Sao Paolo State Games) at the Vila Belmiro stadium in Santos 5th Novemebr 2010, brushed silver tone torch, bearing the logos of The Games and The Seals of the universidade Santa Cecilia, Santos City Hall and the Government of the State of Sao Paulo, length 72cm. The Interior Games were first held in 1936. In 2010 cities in the Brazilian state of Sao Paolo competed in the host city of Santos in 26 different sports. Pelé received a warm hero’s reception as the torch bearer chosen to light the flame at the stadium where he played the majority of his club career for Santos. Provenance: The Pelé Collection.
