Memorabilia relating to Lester Finch and the Football Association Amateur England team Tour to New Zealand and Australia 19th April 1937 to 3rd September 1937, selection includes itinerary for full tour issued by FA, individual itinerary issued for Australian tour and New Zealand tour as issued by both Football Associations, menu to commemorate tour, held at Great General Hotel London, 4th October 1937, programme New Zealand v England 26th June 1937, official tour report, etc., majority in good condition, some with ink annotations, (12 items) Lester Finch born 1909-95 was one of the leading amateur players of his period, he played and managed Barnet from 1928-55, making 476 appearances, scoring 226 goals. He also played many times for England Amateur team, touring New Zealand and Australia 1937 and South Africa 1939 with England FA. He won Amateur Cup with Barnet 1945-46 and played one full wartime International v Wales 1941. During war period he guested for Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and Chelsea. One of the last breed of truly amateur players.
