The captain's account of the accident inconclusion reads "When our V1 speed of 117 knots was reached I called V1 Captain Rayment (first officer, died in hospital from injuries 15th March 1958) then knew we were committed to the take-off. However, the aircraft failed to accelerate to the V2 speed for which he was waiting, he would have been wrong in attempting to fly under these conditions, and indeed, the fact that the tail bumper did not touch the ground, indicates that the aircraft was never at a sufficient angle of attack to fly.", paper wrappers damaged and distressed, marks and tape repairs with pen marks, internally good
