Davis was a South African who came to England to study at Cambridge University, an accomplished athletic in many fields, he had the misfortune to be here at the time when England had many great runners and for this reason he decided to represent South Africa at the 1924 Paris Olympic Games and ran in the 800 and 1500 metre races.
