The Mildmay Memorial Steeplechase bronze trophy awarded to jockey Stan Mellor for winning on Stalbridge Colonist at Sandown Park in 1968, modelled as two racehorses with jockey's aboard riding a finish, mounted upon a wooden plinth base with engraved plaque MILDMAY MEMORIAL STEEPLECHASE SANDOWN PARK 1968 STALBRIDGE COLONIST, 14 by 20 by 12.5cm., sold with a quantity of other photographs and press cuttings relating to Stalbridge Colonist, including a signed article with image of Stan Mellor on Stalbridge Colonist, signed in black ink, a montage of three b & w photographs of Stalbridge Colonist with Stan Mellor including at the Whitbread Gold Cup 1968 and a b & w photograph of Stalbridge Colonist and Stan Mellor challenging Arkle and Pat Taaffe at the last to win the 1966 Hennessy Gold Cup, framed and glazed overall 21 by 25cm, (qty) Stalbridge Colonist was owned by Reg Blundell, Chairman of Plymouth Argyle Football Club, and trained by Ken Cundell at Compton.
