Arts and Crafts silver cigarette box awarded to Stan Mellor on the occasion of riding the winner of the 1960 Topham Trophy Steeplechase aboard Arthur Maiden's Fresh Winds at Aintree, hallmarked Chester, 1918, by Joseph A Hodel of the Bromsgrove Guild, the rectangular silver box with acanthus leaf embossed pierced strapwork hinges and clasp, the lid inscribed with TOPHAM TROPHY STEEPLECHASE 1960 PRESENTED BY MESSRS. TOPHAM LTD WON BY MR ARTHUR MAIDEN'S 'FRESH WINDS' RIDDEN BY S. MELLOR, raised upon four squat stepped supports, the interior with fitted cedarwood, 8 by 23 by 13cm., total weight 125gms., bears minor surface wear and slight dent closing clasp Fresh Winds was trained by Roy Whiston at Market Drayton.
