A hallmarked silver salver presented as a wedding gift to Joe Mears, Chairman of Chelsea Football Club, in 1945, awarded in his capacity as Chairman and Captain of the Richmond Boxing Day Charity Regatta Committee, by Mappin & Webb, Sheffield, 1945, with scalloped edge and raised on three pad feet, Sheffield 1945, presentation inscription reading ''Richmond Boxing Day Charity Regatta, this token of affection and esteem was presented by members of the committee to their Chairman Captain JH Mears RM on the occasion of his marriage 6th June 1945'', 27cm. diameter, good Joseph ''Joe'' Mears was the son of founder of Chelsea Football Club. He became Chairman of Chelsea Football Club in 1940 and Chairman of the FA in 1963 until his untimely death a few weeks before the 1966 World Cup.
