London 1908 Olympic Games unawarded second prize medal for the 7 metre yacht race, designed by Bertram Mackennal, in bronze, two young maidens are crowning a winning athlete, the reverse with St George slaying the dragon, the rim inscribed SECOND PRIZE 7 METRE YACHT RACE Only two boats entered the competition, both with British crews. The race was in the Solent from the Royal Victoria Yacht Club, Ryde, Isle of Wight. However, only one boat ''Heroine'' made the start line and the gold medal was awarded by a 'sail-over.' The second boat that did not make the start was ''Mignonette''. The helmsman of the 4-,man crew was Capt. R. Sloane-Stanley.
