Liverpool Football Club graphic from the Timeline Series that hung in the old Main Stand lounges, 1964 WHERE A NATIONAL INSTITUTION WAS BORN with a photographic image of a vintage BBC microphone accompanied by text reading ON 22 AUGUST 1964, ANFIELD HOSTED THE VERY FIRST MATCH OF THE DAY PROGRAMME. THE GAME WAS SCREENED ON BBC2 IN BLACK AND WHITE AND FEATURED THE 3-2 VICTORY OVER ARSENAL FC. FIVE YEARS LATER IN NOVEMBER 1969, THE FIRST-EVER COLOUR EDITION OF MOTD ON BBC1 WAS BROADCAST FROM ANFIELD. ON THIS OCCASION, THE OPPOSITION WAS WEST HAM UNITED FC WITH THE REDS WINNING 2-0., mounted under glass in a black picture frame, 60 by 42cm.; sold with a certificate of authenticity issued by Liverpool Football Club
