Ken Mulhearn Manchester City Football League Division One Championship medal 1967-68, 9ct.gold, inscribed THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE, CHAMPIONS, DIVISION 1, SEASON 1967-68, in original fitted case Ken Mulhearn was the goalkeeper during Manchester City's 1967-68 Championship winning season. City finished two points clear of their local rivals Manchester United. Kenneth John Mulhearn was born in Liverpool 16th October 1945 and had been an apprentice at Everton before Stockport signed him in 1964. Mulhearn made 100 League appearances at Stockport before he was signed for Manchester City on 21st September 1967 as understudy for Harry Dowd. Two days later Dowd sustained a serious injury and Mulhearn played between the stick for the rest of the season, winning a Championship medal in the process. Mulhearn fell out of favour with manager Malcolm Allison and only played sporadically until 1971 at which time he transferred to Shrewsbury Town before finishing his career at Crewe Alexandra.
