Mike Doyle Manchester City Football League Division One Championship medal 1967-68, 9ct.gold, inscribed THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE, CHAMPIONS, DIVISION 1, SEASON 1967-68, in original fitted case Mike Doyle played at cemtre-half during Manchester City's 1967-68 Championship winning season. City finished two points clear of their local rivals Manchester United. Michael Doyle was born at Ashton-under-Lyne 25th November 1946 and joined City from Stockport Boys in May 1962. He did play at wing-half and as a forward before becoming a regular centre-half later in his career. Doyle made a total of 570 appearances for City and also won two League Cups, scoring in the 1970 win over WBA and captaining the side who beat Newcastle in 1976. Doyle also won five England international caps and eight at U-23 level. Provenance: Christie's 24th September 2002, lot 2.
