A rare and unusual medal for the 1936 Mitropa Cup, the competition being an early forerunner of the European Cup/Champions League, the final tie contested between F.K. Austria and Sparta Prague, the competition was restricted to teams from central Europe and was played annual between 1927 and 1939 before being revived after the Second World Cup but increasingly became overshadowed by the UEFA European competitions until a stage was met where countries entered their 2nd Division Champions. The steady decline eventually saw the competition abandoned after 1992. In 1936 .K. Austria defeated Sparta Prague.
