A fine metalwork & woodwork relief picture commemorating the first running of the Jubilee Stakes at Kempton Park in 1887, featuring the field racing along the track, the original jockeys colours now faint, decorative scrollwork to each corner (one now detached), label for George L. Brown, Art Dealer, 5 Livery Street, Birmingham, in original glass fronted wooden case, 86 by 135cm., 34 by 53in. This race was inaugurated by Kempton Park to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1887. The 3,000 Guineas race attracted a high quality field of 18 runners and was won by Mr H T Barclay's ''Bendigo'' who had won the first running of the Eclipse Stakes the previous season. In its day the Jubilee Handicap ranked amongst the most important handicaps in the Racing Calendar and one of the biggest betting heats. In 1903 the modern day equivalent of ?4million was taken out of the ring when Ypsilanti landed the odds.
