Skaarup had scored a heavily deflected goal off of Keown in the first leg in Denmark, before Wright equalised and Paul Merson scored the winner. A 1-1 draw back at Highbury was enough for the London club to progress. Brian Skaarup played 50 times for Odense Boldklub but was troubled by injuries throughout the duration, and was eventually forced to retire in 1995 at the young age of 23.
