Real Tennis: a period photograph titled 'The World's Tennis Championship for ?500 (1907)', The 7 by 11in. mounted with printed title and legend, published by Hawkins & Company, 62 Preston Street, Brighton, framed & glazed The photograph records an historic gathering of gentlemen, nearly all of whom had some influence on the development of the game of Real Tennis. The competition was between Peter Latham (Challenger and eventual victor) and Cecil 'Punch' Fairs (Champion), and took place at the Brighton court. Such was the prominence of many of these gentlemen that a list of names is warranted. Mr. F. B. Vanderbyl, Mr. J. F. Marshall, F. Covey, C. Baldwin, Mr. J. R. McClean, W. Webb, C. Lambert, E. Grey, A. White, A. Smith, Mr. E. B. Noel (Amateur Racquet Champion), Mr. E. Brunton, George Lambert (ex-Champion), Tom White, A. Tomkins, F. Forester, C. Feldon, Mr. Jay Gould, E. Lambert, Mr. J. M. Heathcote, Jim Harradine, A. Forester, Mr. R. D. Walker, Mr. H. A. Chapman, Mr. C. D. Rose, Peter Latham (Challenger), C. 'Punch' Fairs (Champion), Mr. Ashworth.
