A canteen of cutlery presented to Harry Nuttall to commemorate Bolton Wanderers's victory over Manchester City in the 1926 F.A. Cup final, set with a plaque engraved PRESENTED TO H. NUTTALL, COMMEMORATING THE SECOND VICTORY IN THE ASSOCIATION CUP FINAL, 24th APRIL 1926, BOLTON WANDERERS 1 MANCHESTER CITY 0, the impressive three drawer oak canteen with retailer's plaque for J.H. PROFFITT, containing 12 settings of cutlery by Edwin Blyde & Co. of Sheffield in stainless steel and in electroplate, overall in fine condition except for a missing right-hand carrying handle, the slight corrosion of a mustard spoon and lacking the original key Harry Nuttall played in all three of Bolton Wanderer's F.A. Cup winning sides of the 1920s, when the Lancashire club beat West Ham United 2-0 in the first Wembley final of 1923 followed by a 1-0 win over Manchester City in 1926 and a 2-0 victory against Portsmouth in 1929, with Nuttall captaining the team. Provenance: Purchased by the present vendor directly from Harry Nuttall's grand-daughter in 1977.
