Colin McDonald opened the batting for Australia during their difficult Tour of England in 1956 but stood up admirably to the likes of Trueman & Statham as well as being a fine player of slow bowling. As Jim Laker routed the Australians for 259, 107, 84 and 205 during his famous spells for Surrey and England, the Victorian performed with distinction scoring 89, 45, 32 and 89.
