Provenance: Mr Goodwin, crew member aboard Shamrock II. Thence by family descent. Footnote Shamrock II was raced by Thomas J. Lipton, the tea millionaire, who tried no less than 10 times to take the Americas Cup (founded in 185) back to England, but alas his five boats - Shamrocks I to V - all failed in their quest.
