Wasps memorabilia relating to W. Crawford ('Snowie') Snowden, comprising a black Wasps cap inscribed 2nd XV 1908-09, 1909-10, 1910-11, 1911-12, 1912-13; a black & yellow Wasps cap dated 1912-13; a 25th membership anniversary Wasps blazer badge inscribed 1907-1932; a Wasps News Letter season with a foreword by Snowden in his capacity as club president; a Wasps v RAF programme 8.1.66 carrying an obituary for Snowden; from 1951-52; & a club centenary brochure 1867-1967 with Snowden appearing in an illustrated feature (6) Wallace Crawford Snowden ('Snowie'), a native of Yorkshire, joined Wasps in September 1907 and played for the club's 1st & 2nd XV's. He also founded the club's referees' scheme and edited the annual news letter. After years of devotion to Wasps he became President from 1952 to 1955. He was also Chairman of the club's Public Relations Committee for many years. He was well known in Fleet Street and the Press Club as a senior sub-editor of the Evening News. Snowie was remembered as 'a very quiet, gentle, unassuming character' and 'a staunch and loyal Wasp of 58 years'. He died 22nd December 1965 aged 78.
