A Century of Incredible Newcastle United Shirts

Newcastle is and always has been one of our favourite cities. It is, without a doubt, one of the friendliest places you can venture, especially if a few samples of the local brew and hospitality is on the menu! You don’t have to be sat comfortably in a bar such as the Bridge or Crown Posanda before you get into a conversation about football.

The North East has always been a football mad place. Newcastle is very much the epitome of a one club town - up there, you are either Toon or nothing, and I believe that it breeds a particularly passionate supporter.

Back in the days of Association Football’s tottering early steps, the amount of truly great pioneers and players that heralded from places such as Ashington, Hebburn and the likes is truly incredible. A great club produces great memories and great players. It will always have a fantastic history - no doubts there. From the moment East and West merged in 1892, entering the League in 1893, they have won four League Championships, six FA Cups, The Inter City Fairs Cup, Charity Shied, and Intertoto Cup, spending their entire history in the top two divisions of the English game, making them to date, the ninth most successful club in the land.

We are always delighted when items related to this fine club are made available for auction and our Four Day Themed Sporting Memorabilia Auction has brought a real supply of treasures to our catalogue.

There is a pre-war beauty in the shape of Robert Clark’s 1927/28 classic, bearing the 'League Champions' badge and carrying an estimate of between £3,000 and £5,000. It embodies everything I personally love in such an item—close to 100 years old, with history in every fiber of the material. Also up for grabs is George Robledo’s 1952 FA Cup Final example, worn as they beat Arsenal at Wembley Stadium and on the back of the player as he scored the only goal of the game to carry the silverware back to Tyneside, with an estimate of between £5,000 and £7,000. Another treasure not to miss out on is a spare shirt issued to Stewart Barrowclough for the 1976 League Cup Final. Plus, a rare yellow 1982/83 Terry Mac away shirt, signed by the great man, is a true highlight from the catalogue.

There are countless other shirts and programmes relating the North East giants across our auction. The catalogue is open and available online for you to view right now, and you still have time to register to bid. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch, and we will as always, be delighted to help in any way we can.

Good bidding and good luck!
