George Best English Football Writers Association Footballer of the Year trophy, 1968, depicting a figure of a footballer in action pose on rectangular wooden base with white-metal plaque inscribed THE FOOTBALLER OF THE YEAR PRESENTED TO GEORGE BEST MANCHESTER UNITED BY THE FOOTBALL WRITERS ASSOCIATION 1967-68, the sides of the base with enamel Union Flag plaques, 23cm high. 

The trophy was presented to George Best in 1968 when he became a European Cup winner after scoring in the final against Benfica. United won 4–1 and Best was also crowned European Footballer of the Year.
