Rare Postle v Growcott “ World’s Championship Athletics Meeting, held on the 25th July 1908 at the Manchester United Football Ground, the cover is of Postle of Australia v Growcott of England in a 130 yard race for £550! Which was the star attraction of the Athletics meeting, the meeting was held at “North Road” where United played and 2 years or so before they moved to Old Trafford, believed there are only two known copies in existence of this programme, 30pp all concerning the different athletic events on the day including some advertisements and one in particular for the former Newton Heath and Manchester United Captain and Director and whose Dog “ Major” saved the day allowing Newton Heath to survive and then the re-birth to Manchester United. Harry Stafford ran the Imperial Hotel in Piccadilly. It was Harry Stafford that organised and arranged this event to be held at Manchester United as well as allowing the Championship Medals and Sashes to be on display at the Imperial Hotel
