Sketches at Lord's Ground No.3 Thomas Box,

Hammer Price:
£280
Estimated Price:

£100 - £150

Sketches at Lords' Ground No.3 Thomas Box, c.1860, hand coloured lithograph by Mourilyan & Casey, mounted, glazed and framed, 57 x 47cm. This is one of a series of six pirated lithographs, performed to a high standard but without approval from the original user of the name 'Sketches at Lord's' JC Anderson and the original artists or publishers of the stolen images, usually C Basebe and WH Mason. If anything, these pirate lithographs are rarer than those by Anderson and Basebe and they are just as much decorative fun and somewhat larger. Tis does not look much like Thomas Box who is normally shown in wicket-keeper gear. Mouilyan & Casey were not too precise about what they stole!. Thomas Box, 19th century English cricketer, remembered as an outstanding wicketkeeper. All glass will be removed from framed and glazed items prior to posting and may result in delays to shipping your items. (This service is included in the cost of postage and packing). We can also totally remove all framing and mounts upon request to reduce shipping costs. Alternatively lots can be collected in person by prior appointment from NN8 1RT.
