Cortina 1956 Winter Olympic Games Italian National Olympic Committee .750 gold medal awarded to the Italian sports administrator Ottorino Barassi,designed by Constantino Affer, signed, by Lorioll of Milano and Roma, the obverse designed with the head of Victory crowned by Olympic Rings and bearing a flaming torch, inscribed VII GIOCHI OLIMPICI INVERNALL, the reverse inscribed COMITATO OLIMPICO NAZIONALE ITALIANO, and engraved name OTTORION BARASSI, diameter 30mm., weight 19gr. The auctioneer has previously seen examples of Cortina 1956 Winter Olympic Games NOC medals struck in bronze, but not in 18k gold.
