18k gold & enamel medal presented to Ottorino Barassi on the occasion of the River Plate v Torino Simbolo match marking the 50th anniversary of the Argentinian club, the obverse with enamel club crest and inscribed CLUB A. RIVER PLATE, the reverse inscribed TORINI SIMBOLO vs. RIVER PLATE, 1901 - MAYO -1951, OTTORINO BARASSI, EN RECUERDO DE UN GESTO FRATERNO, diameter 25mm., weight 8gr. After of Superga Disaster on May 4th, 1949, River Plate travelled to Italy to play a benefit match against an Italian combined called Torino Simbolo. Two years later, Torino Simbolo played at Buenos Aires in commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of River Plate.
