An early and rare blue 1878 Scotland International rugby cap blue velvet with gilt braiding, lacking tassel with embroidered thistle and dated 1878, worn, holed and interior poor. The game took place at the Oval in London on March 4th 1878 and finished in a draw and the cap is from the 9th ever game played by Scotland and within the first hundred caps awarded.
