Rare late Victorian 1883-84 gold F.A. Cup winner's medal awarded to Joe Sowerbutts of Blackburn Rovers the obverse designed with a football in raised relief flanked by laurel, inscribed BLACKBURN ROVERS, J. E.SOURBUTTS, the reverse inscribed THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION, CHALLENGE CUP, 1883-4. The medal has been tested for 22ct gold, the engraver has made an error when spelling player's surname. In the match played on 29th March 1884 at the Kennington Oval, Blackburn Rovers defeated the Scottish side Queens Park 2-1, it was the first time a Scottish side had reach the final of the F.A.Cup
