Real Madrid v Rheims final of 1955 'Finale de la Coupe Latine' programme, played in Paris on 26th June, the competition was the forerunner of the European Cup. It started in 1949 when FIFA sanctioned a competition between champions of France, Italy, Spain and Portugal to avoid travelling, it was held in one country at end of season. In the 1955 competition the teams were real Madrid, Milan, CF Belenenses & Rheims. Real Madrid won 2-0 with the popularity of the European cup the competition finished in 1957. Interesting note that in 1957 Real Madrid won both the Coupe Latine and European Cup
