An "Honorary Citizen" plaque presented to Pelé in 1972, by the city of Los Angeles, California. The wood plaque features the seal of the city of Los Angeles along with an engraved gold tone metal plate that reads "The Mayor of the City of Los Angeles/ Takes Pleasure in Granting/ Honorary Citizenship/ to/ Pele/ International Soccer Star/ by the Authority Invested in Me, Proclaim Pele/ an Honorary Citizen of the City of Los Angeles./ Entitles to All the Rights and Honors Thereto./ Presented, July 5, 1972/ Sam Yorty, Mayor." Pelé's Santos FC team was in Toronto, Canada, on July 5, 1972, for an international friendly match against the Toronto Metros.
