Rare late 1960s blue No.2 Rangers nylon jersey, Umbro, M, with crew-neck collar and embroidered badge inscribed RFC We are unable to identify who wore this shirt but believed it to be to be Sandy Jardine or possibly Kai Johansen and was given to Tommie by one of the United's Scottish Internationalists. Tommie Hamilton came to Manchester from Edinburgh around 1960. He was a keen keep fit fanatic in his early years, always at the gym working out. it was there he met a few of the Scots who played for Manchester United. He decided to convert the cellar of his house into his own personal gymnasium. Some of Tommie's United pals started using his gym for weight training and he soon became good friends with some of them including Denis Law, Paddy Crerand and Jim Ryan. He helped a number of United players to fitness by introducing them to certain types of weight training. Manchester United that some players were doing something different and enquired into what that was. The club Manchester United got in contact with Tommie to ask about sending more players to him. Nobby Stiles, George Best and many others regularly went to Tommie' gym. Many of the players gifted him their kit which he treasured and remained friends with the players and Manchester United for many years
