George Best blue Northern Ireland v. Scotland, England and Wales International Cap, 1969-70 the blue velvet cap with gilt tassel and gold-coloured braiding, embroidered S,E,W, 1969-70 The cap is in excellent condition with minimal fade to the material and trimmed with gold along with its tassel. In the first 1969-70 Home Championship match against Scotland played on 18th April 1970 at Windsor Park, Scotland defeated Northern Ireland 1-0, in the match against England played on the 21st April 1970 at Wembley in front of 100,000 spectators England defeated Northern Ireland 3-1, Best scoring the only Irish goal and in the final match against Wales played on 25th April at the Vetch Field, Swansea, Wales defeated Northern Ireland 1-0. The cap covers George's 20, 21 and 22nd appearances for his country. Provenance: Christie's Glasgow 24th September 1999 lot 50. Then sold again at Bonham's, London, 14th June 2002, lot 62.
