Set of racing silks of HM Queen Elizabeth II worn by Joe Mercer OBE aboard Highclere, when he won the 1,000 guineas at Newmarket on 2nd May 1974, the purple and scarlet silks with gold braiding and buttons, with black velvet cap with gold tassel, mounted above a later colour photograph of Joe Mercer with these silks and a b&w photograph of HM Queen Elizabeth II, with Joe Mercer and Lord Porchester, taken after the race, with typed legend, mounted, glazed and framed, overall 107 by 68cm., with signed letter of provenance from Joe Mercer dated 2nd August 2015 confirming that he wore the silks in 1974, sold with HM Queen Elizabeth II 'Racing and Breeding Studs' book for 1973, navy and red front cover, 120-pages, (3)
