The silks worn by the legendary American jockey Willie Shoemaker when winning his first race at Epsom racecourse in England aboard the R J R Williams-trained Royal Recourse in the Ashtead Stakes 9th June 1984, the plain black colours of the bloodstock agent/racehorse owner Richard Galpin, by Gibson of Newmarket, named to the owner in the neck tag; sold together with a 4 by 6in. colour photo of the finish; the lot also including a 1978 Epsom Derby racecard signed by Shoemaker who finished second on Hawaiian Sound at odds of 25-1; and a photo of Shoemaker wearing the silks on the day (4) "The Shoe" rode an astonishing 8,833 career winners and eleven Triple Crown races.
