Fifteen hair trophies from famous racehorses from the collection of the racing historian Michael Tanner, ARKLE, RED RUM, PRETTY POLLY, SECRETARIAT, NIJINSKY, BRIGADIER GERARD, PETITE ETOILE, ALDANITI, DAN RUN, PERSIAN WAR, COMEDY OF ERRORS, PENDIL, THE DIKLER, TINGLE CREEK and BURROUGH HILL LAD strands of tail or mane hair accompanied in a pouch with a picture of the famous racehorse, collected personally by Michael Tanner in the 1970s and 1980 and acquired directly from the trainers, owners, stud farms or custodians responsible; or pulled by Michael Tanner personally; or acquired by Michael Tanner from the famous collector the late Ray Goddard; in 13 of the 15 fifteen pouches there are photocopies of letters/compliments slips from the individuals responsible for sending the hairs to Michael Tanner, the two exceptions being Secretariat, visited by Michael Tanner at Claiborne Farm, KY, 3.11.88 and Persian War, received 27.4.83 from Walter Swinburn Snr., Genesis Green Stud Provenance: From racing historian Michael Tanner’s library & archive relating to his own titles.
