Racing ephemera from collection of the Newmarket-racehorse trainer George Colling circa 1930s/40s, all of historical value including items originally owned by Mr & Mrs Glenister (owners of Nimbus), racecards, Derby Dinner menus, invitations, race badge etc., the lot including a 1949 2,000 Guineas racecard signed by Nimbus's trainer and jockey George Colling and Charlie Elliott, Nimbus's 2-y-o debut at Newmarket 12.5.48, Royal Ascot opening day 1948, also racecards, also two Gordon Richards-signed Lingfield Park Finale Plate cards 22.1.47 & 19.11.49 Lots 272 to 294 From the Collection of the Newmarket trainer George Scott Colling (1904-1959); and the Collection of Mrs Marion Glenister, owner of Nimbus, the 1949 Derby & 2,000 Guineas winner, being material subsequently acquired at Graham Budd Auctions. George Colling was the son of R W Colling and brother to Jack, a famous racing dynasty in the history of the turf.
