The British team comprised Pat Eddery, Joe Mercer, Willie Carson, Greville Starkey and Lester Piggott. The US-team was made up of Laffit Pincay Jnr, Jorge Valesquez, Angel Cordero, Steve Cauthen and Willie Shoemaker.
