Daily Express Sportsman of the Year award presented to Lester Piggott in 1968, in the form of a large hallmarked silver-gilt medallion encased in hexagonal perspex display stand, the medallion inscribed both sides DAILY EXPRSS SPORTSMAN OF THE YEAR, 1968, WINNER, the perspex inscribed LESTER PIGGOTT, WINNER, DAILY EXPRESS NATIONAL BALLOT, 1968, 10 by 11.5cm. In 1968 Lester Piggott was crowned Champion Jockey for the fifth successive year. He also won the 2,000 Guineas and Derby on Sir Ivor, and the St Leger on Ribero.
