The jacket worn by the legendary greyhound Ballyregan Bob in the John Power Show Down v Scurlogue Champ at Wembley 12th December 1985, the blue velvet jacket inscribed THE JOHN POWER SHOW DOWN, WEMBLEY 1985, gold fringe, 48 by 46cm. This race was a huge event, being a head to head between the two greatest greyhounds in training at that time, and probably the two greatest greyhounds since Mick the Miller. This was the only time that they met. The race was over 710m at Wembley, in the invitational four-runner John Power Showdown, which was broadcast live on local London TV. It saw Scurlogue Champ drop out and stop – he was later reported lame – as Ballyregan Bob raced clear. There is a strand of thought that he entire race was a mistake in only having the four runners as there wasn't anything for Scurlogue to follow around, so he stopped. The other three were gone. Ballyregan Bob won by 11 3/4L in a track record time of 42.63secs. Provenance: George Curtis, Ballyregan Bob's trainer at Brighton.
