Ex-Pelé Collection: a 1,000th goal trophy presentation to Pelé, composed of a large amethyst geode mounted on a solid block of Brazilian hardwood with a gold tone plaque engraved "Troféu 1000 Gols ao Rei Pelé (Edson Arantes do Nascimento) - Homenagem da Rádio Globo e Haroldo Burle-Marx -1956-1969" [Trophy for 1,000 Goals to King Pelé (Edson Arantes do Nascimento) - A Tribute from Rádio Globo and Haroldo Burle-Marx - 1956-1969], 37 by 27 by 9.5cm. Pelé scored his 1,000th goal for Santos in a match v Vasco da Gama at the Maracana in Rio 19th November 1969. Haraldo Burle-Marx was an innovative Brazilian lapidary who was often commissioned to design unique jewellery items for visiting dignitaries. Provenance: The Pelé Collection.
