The very scarce 'Red Star' transfers sheet from season 1933-34 by an unknown publisher and including the earliest Stanley Matthews rookie card, probably issued by a boys' comic or magazine, an uncut complete sheet, reverse printed portraits of 31 named footballers and including Stanley Matthews in his rookie season at Stoke when the club were crowned 2nd Division Champions, other players comprising Cresswell, Wilkinson, Cooper, Watson, Waterfield, Twine, O'Callaghan, Hulme, Jack, Allen, Blenkinsop, Briggs, Pritchard, Hampson, Dean, Dix, Jones, Keeping, Weddle, Bedford, Mills, McNab, Kelly, Gurney, O'Dowd, Gallacher, Cartwright, Hunt, Brown and Campbell, the 32nd perforated square bearing a red flag hence the name of this rarity given by collectors, marks and paper loss in two areas to upper margin, slightly interfering with the Cresswell transfer, and in a very minor way to Watson, further mark affecting the Bedford and to a lesser extent the Gurney, perforated line open below Dean This sheet was been described as of the golden eggs of football card collecting. The Stanley Matthews rookie card has been recorded selling on its own for a shade under £1,000. Offered here is the entire uncut sheet.
